Siddha Guiding Principles

According to the Siddha System, the individual is a microcosm of the Universe. The human body consist of the five primordial elements - Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space. The three humours - Vatha, Pitta, Kapha and 7 Physical constituents. Food is the basic building material of the Human body and gets processed into Humours, Tissues and Wastes. The equilibrium of humours is considered as health and its disturbance or imbalance leads to a diseased state.

Concept of Siddha Treatment

Treatment consists of three distinct categories :

Deva Maruthuvam - Divine method
Maanida Maruthuvam - Rational method
Asura Maruthuvam - Surgical method

Classification of Siddha Medicines

Siddha Medicines may be roughly divided into three classes :
-Miracle Medicines -Sophisticated Medicines -Common Medicines

Miracle medicines are becoming rare and should be learnt directly from the masters who have undergone all forms of initiation and hazards of apprenticeship and have reached perfection in all respects. Sophisticated medicines may be scientifically prepared and used by the well trained physicians without much risk. Common medicines are most simple and cheap ones which were in wide use till the beginning of the 20th century and are still in use in remote rural areas of our company.

Siddha Unique Diagnostic Method

In Siddha to identify the diseases and its causes, a scientific method is required. In Siddha medicine system, the method of diagnosis is quite unique and is entirely based on the ‘Clinical acumen’ of the physician. The physician examines the tongue, complexion, speech, eyes, and palpatory findings in a patient. This is followed by the examination of the urine and stool. The diagnosis is also confirmed by the ‘Pulse Diagnosis’.
These are known as the ‘Eight Tools of Diagnosis’. These tools not only enable the physician the diagnose the anomaly but also help to discover the prospects and restoration of health. It should be noted that pulse diagnosis was distinctive in Siddha medicine and was later used in other medicine systems. The pulse is examined from the right hand of the males and left hand of the females.

THE STORY BEHIND RSM

THE STORY BEHIND RSM

Dr.V.KALIDOSS

Many decades ago, in the quiet towns of Tamil Nadu, lived a young boy named Kalidoss, born into a family that treasured the ancient wisdom of Siddha medicine. From an early age, he watched elders prepare herbs, mix oils, and heal people with traditional remedies. These sights would sow the seeds of what would later become a lifelong mission. As he grew, Kalidoss immersed himself in the classical teachings of Siddha. He studied under skilled practitioners, observed nature, and learned that medicine was not merely science—it was compassion, patience, and service. With this conviction, he dedicated himself entirely to healing the public.
In 1961, at a time when Siddha and Ayurveda medicines were not widely recognized by formal healthcare systems, he began preparing herbal formulations under the name Raja Siddha Marundhagam. What began as a humble effort slowly blossomed into a trusted name. Patients who sought relief returned not only cured, but with immense respect for the man they affectionately began to call Raja Siddha Vaidhyar.
By the 1970s, the Government of Tamil Nadu recognized his contributions and certified him as a Regional Indian Medical Practitioner. His medicines traveled beyond the walls of his clinic, reaching homes, towns, and other states. He became an active voice in Siddha medical associations, speaking for the legal protection and standardization of the system. He ensured that traditional preparations like chooranam, lehyam, thailam, and rasayanam were documented, quality-checked, and prepared with care. Many young doctors and students learned under him, and he would later serve as a lifelong member of the Tamil Nadu Siddha Pharmacology Committee.
With time, his work helped Siddha medicine find new recognition and acceptance across the state and beyond. The small institution he founded grew into a respected center of healing, and his formulations became widely known for their purity and effectiveness. Even in his final years, Dr. V. Kalidoss continued to serve patients with the same sincerity that marked his youth. On 26 September 2019, he passed away, leaving behind not just a medical institution, but a legacy of dedication, discipline, and deep compassion. His mission did not end there. His son, Raja Murugan, inherited both the institution and his father’s commitment to healing. With modern thinking and steadfast respect for tradition, he expanded operations across six acres, introduced Ayurvedic practices, and strengthened the manufacturing process. Under his guidance, Raja Siddha Marundhagam stepped into a new era—one that bridges ancient wisdom with contemporary healthcare.
Today, the name Raja Siddha Marundagam carries the story of a healer who believed that medicine must not only cure the body, but also uplift the spirit. And through the countless people it continues to serve, his legacy lives on.

RAJA MURUGAN KALIDOSS

Raja Siddha Marundagam was founded on the belief that traditional medicine should serve people with purity, authenticity, and compassion. As custodians of my father Dr. V. Kalidoss’s legacy, we continue to uphold the values he lived by—discipline, integrity, and sincere service to society. Today, our mission is to preserve the classical wisdom of Siddha while thoughtfully embracing advancements that improve quality, safety, and accessibility.

We remain committed to producing trusted formulations that support holistic wellbeing and reflect the highest standards of traditional practice. For us, growth is meaningful only when it benefits the community, strengthens the Siddha system, and honors the lineage from which it was born. With gratitude for the trust placed in us, we look forward to advancing Siddha medicine for future generations.
